Hey, Polytoria!

It's been a while since you've heard much about our new website.

Well, we are proud to announce the future of Polytoria is finally here! As of April 14, 2023, the new website has been released. It's time to show you what our development team has been working on for the past year. So many cool new things that have been added to Polytoria, and you can finally explore them yourself!

Design Overhaul

The old Polytoria website was a clunky mess written in the PHP programming language using outdated technology from as far back as the 2010's! Ouch.. How ancient... Well, we've finally thrown out the trash, and created something brand new using cutting-edge technolgy.

So, to kick things off, we are proud to say that the entire Polytoria website has been redesigned from the ground up! We want your experience on Polytoria to be the best that it can ever be, so we've effortlessly designed a new experience to ensure that the new Polytoria is as welcoming and user-friendly as possible.

While we can't show you every page as this blog post would be endlessly long, we ask that you hop on over to polytoria.com and see what's new yourself! Or, if you really can't wait, we've highlighted some of the coolest new additions and changes below:

Mobile Compatibility

One of the things that the legacy website lacked was a proper way for mobile users to access the website. There were bugs, glitches, and broken pages everywhere!

One of the things that we've been putting a lot of effort into is making sure that your Polytoria experience on mobile matches the desktop experience, while specially designing the website to fit beautifully and elegantly in the palm of your hand.

With the new mobile-compatibile website design, you can pull up polytoria.com on-the-go at any time and have an experience that feels right at home.

Guilds

Next up, let's take a look at what's new with guilds.

Guilds have been completely overhauled from the ground up, adding many of the most popular features that have been requested by you guys!

Guild ranks have been given a new purpose. You can finally assign permissions to ranks, letting your friends and other guild member interact with the guild in new ways.

Guild Banners

Banners are now available for guilds! Select guild leaders are now able to upload banner images that represent their guilds. We plan to expand on this feature in the future, so keep an eye out!

Self-assignable ranks

Previously, ranking people in guilds has been hard. You would have to let people comment on your guild wall asking you what they'd like to be ranked as, and then you would have to manually rank them.

Manual ranking is a way of the past! With self-assignable ranks, anyone can assign themselves (as the name suggests.) This is useful for role-playing guilds where you want people to be able to choose their own rank without needing to ask you to go out of your way and rank them.

By default, guild ranks are not self-assignable, so you don't need to worry about people taking your admin rank for free. In order to make a rank self-assignable, make your way into your guild settings panel. Choose the rank you want to make self-assignable and then toggle "Self-Assignable Rank" at the bottom of the permissions list. Make sure the rank doesn't have any important permissions, because anyone will be able to use those permissions when assigning themselves!

New Creator Dashboard

The creator dashboard has been redesigned from the ground up to improve your experience when managing places, assets, and clothing.

Some new features have been added to make things a bit easier for creators, which include being able creating places directly from the website.

Places

Places are the core of the Polytoria experience, so we made sure to get this one right. Let's see what's new with places on Polytoria:

First, you can now upload multiple thumbnails to Polytoria places! You can check out place thumbnails by editing your place and selecting "Thumbnails".

You can now assign different genres to your place, with over 20 to choose from! Built a massive skyscraper that you want people to explore? You might want to assign the Showcase genre. Created a game that's all about sword fighting up in the sky? Maybe the competitive genre is for you! Create your first place in Polytoria creator today, and see all the new things we've added.

Introducing Polytoria Plus

We've been working to improve the Polytoria brand, and this extends all the way to our redesign of our Pro and Pro Ultimate packages–now called Polytoria Plus and Plus Deluxe!

Both of these membership programs offer exclusive perks and rewards, which include being able to upload meshes, use our new guild banner features, and reduced sales tax (pesky sales tax! 😅)

More features for Polytoria Plus and Plus Deluxe members are coming soon, so stay tuned!

Mesh Uploading

One of our most requested features of all time has been the ability to upload custom meshes. We understand that all of you creators want to be able to bring your own assets to the Polytoria world, and now you can!

All meshes that are uploaded can be found in your asset library, and other creators will be able to use the mesh in their own creations.

Currently, because this is a new experimental feature, mesh uploading is currently limited to users who are subscribed to Plus Deluxe. We plan to expand mesh uploading to new users in the future.

Social Integration

With the new Polytoria, we are taking profile customization to the new level.

While we haven't quite released all of the profile customization options we have in store, we have added te ability to link social media accounts to your Polytoria profile, so that you don't need to link them all in your account bio.

You can link any YouTube and Twitter account that you would prefer, and it will be directly featured on your profile.

You can also link your Discord account, which automatically grants you access to chat in our official Discord server: discord.gg/polytoria

Economy Reset

With a new Polytoria, we are introducing a brand new shop.

For the first and ONLY time, the Polytoria economy has been reset. Player networth has been reset back to 0, and all hats, limiteds, and clothing have been removed from the store. This allows everyone to have a clean slate in order to create items that truly represent themselves.

The new Polytoria website is not just a website, it is a framework for us to be able to create newer and better experiences for everyone to enjoy. We will still be constantly adding features after today, so stick around as Polytoria gets even better!
